Governors' Camp Collection News May / June 2013

Its been a great month across all our properties, the Masai Mara has continued to provide wonderful wildlife sightings and the grasses are growing long as we wait for the arrival of the wildebeest migration, expected sometime soon. In Rwanda our stand in manager Dave went on a trek to see the magnificent Hirwa Gorilla family and at Loldia House the rain has caused lake levels to rise, wild flowers to bloom and there are young animals everywhere.

We are delighted to have been awarded Certificates of Excellence from Trip Advisor and we assisted the Kenya Wildlife Services Vetinary team with their treatment of Scar one of the males from the Marsh Pride of lions.

We hope to welcome you to this magical corner of Africa sometime soon.

Sincerely

Governors' Camp Collection

Game Report Masai Mara

We had a great month in the Mara, with mostly clear skies and warm days. The grass is growing long, ready for the arrival of the great herds of the wildebeest migration. We have enjoyed lovely elephant sightings and out on the plains there are lots of topi, warthog, buffalo and impala. The Marsh pride of lions continues to thrive and Scar received treatment for his eye. Malaika the cheetah and her cub have moved dangerously close into Marsh Pride territory.

Dave Richards head off on a trek to see the Hirwa Gorilla family. The Hirwa family are a close family whose Silverback Munyina has an interesting history and he shows great affection for his offspring. There are twins in the family and they are a playful bunch, here is Dave's story and great photos.

Loldia House News

One of our driver guides came top of the class in the ornithology class this month, great news! The Lake continues to rise bringing wildlife closer to the house. There are young everywhere with impala fawns, buffalo calves, and bat eared fox cubs to name a few. The recent rain caused many beautiful wild flowers to bloom on the ranch.
